Admission requirements to study Health Education in AIFCE

Health Education degree course in Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education

Health Education is one of the courses offered by Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education. The course was introduced to offer students the skill and compitency needed to function effectively as graduate teachers of health education / health science in school and colleges.

The course generally prepares the student to take up a career in academics as Health Education lecturer.

However, it trains health counselors for schools, hospitals, industries and Community. It also produce health programme officers, assistants and consultants for health related NGO’s and otter it’s professional skills to prevent problem from happening or reoccurring through implementing educational programme, developing policies, administering services, regulating health systems and research.

Admission entry requirements to study Health Education in Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education AIFCE (UNN) Degree Programme

In addition to University normal entrances and admission requirements, candidates seeking admission into the Health Education degree programme must possess the following:-

i. For Four-Year degree programme

Credit in biology / health , science / health , or physical education or their equivalent in ‘O’ level WAEC or GCE or SSCE, NECO in not more than two sittings.

ii. For Three-Year degree programme

a. Two or more advanced papers in GCE or SSCE of which one must be biology or zoology;

b. Pass in NCE health or physical education or biology / integrated science / food and nutrition from any approved college of education recognized by the university of Nigeria;

c. A pass in two year diploma in health and physical education of the university of Nigeria or any other approved university with distinction, or credit or merit plus credit level pass in 4 subject in GCE, WAEC, SSCE or NECO obtained in not more than two sittings;

d. Technical teachers certificate in health education, obtained from organized institution; and

e. At least pass in a three year health education, health technology / nursing / public health nursing diploma programme / community health workers or an equivalent health programme in a recognized university or health institution in addition to minimum of 4 credits in SSCE final examination ‘O’ level WAEC, GCE or NECO. Diploma in public health nursing, or registered nurse (RN), registered midwife (RM), registered nurse tutor (RNT), community health officers (CHO) certificates obtained from any institution recognized by the University.
