Barcelona’s president, Josep Maria Bartomeu, has demanded that midfielder, Phillippe Coutinho, can stay at Camp Nou if Ronald Koeman, the club’s new manager, wants him in Arsenal’s interest.
Barcelona is keen to sell the transfer window for Coutinho this summer and the player’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, has had talks on a potential deal with Arsenal.
Coutinho, presently in loan at Bayern Munich, is set to join Arsenal this summer on another loan.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is one of Coutinho ‘s biggest admirers.
“Coutinho can stay here if Koeman wants him,” Bartomeu has been quoted as saying by Express UK.
“The head coach will make the decision.”
After lining up a deal for the 28-year-old, Arsenal will have to wait and see what Koeman wants to do with Coutinho
Coutinho entered Barcelona for a £145 million contract in January 2018, from Liverpool.
He has supported Bayern double this season’s domestic league and cup double.
