MTV today revealed nominations for the “2020 MTV EMAs, and the Best African Act has been nominated by Nigerian singers Burna Boy and Rema.”

Burna Boy, winner of the BET Awards 2020 and Grammy nominee, was once again nominated for Best African Act, a title he won in 2019. Master KG, Kabza de Small and DJ Maphorisa (South Africa), Sheebah (Uganda), Gaz Mawete (Democratic Republic of the Congo) and Rema (Nigeria) are also African singers in the category.

Lady Gaga is in the lead with seven nominations on the international scene, including “Best Artist,” “Best Pop,” and “Best Video” for her duet with Ariana Grande, “Rain On Me,” which also won a spot in the categories of “Best Single” and “Best Collaboration.” In categories like “Biggest Fans” and “Best Pop,” BTS and Justin Bieber each received five nods.

There are three new categories in the awards: “Best Latin,” “Video for Good” and “Best Virtual Live.” The category “Best Local Artist” returns, with awards including: Lady Gaga, Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B for “Best US Artist,” Justin Bieber and The Weeknd for “Best Canadian Act,” and Dua Lipa for “Best UK & Ireland Act,” and more.

The ‘2020 MTV EMAs’ will connect viewers at home with the world’s hottest names in music to mark the 27th edition of one of the biggest nights in global music. Performers and presenters’ information will soon be revealed.

On Sunday, November 8, 2020, the two-hour ‘2020 MTV EMAs’ will air worldwide on MTV in 180 nations and territories. Today, fans will start casting their ballots, as voting has commenced.
