His publicist, Nicki Fioravante, told AP that he died alongside his wife and family in his Los Angeles home. Boseman had never addressed his fight with cancer publicly.

“A true warrior, Chadwick has stayed strong through it all, and given you several of the films you’ve come to enjoy so much,” reads his family ‘s message. “From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and a few more — all shot during and during countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was his career’s pleasure to carry King T’Challa to life in Black Panther”

In a conversation with CNET Magazine in 2018, Boseman spoke about all the reasons he enjoyed playing the king of the fictional Wakanda African republic. “I love making other people think about him,” he said. “He’s not afraid to hear wise advice. I guess there’s a certain fear of being wrong.

I connect with that, its nature, its plight. And I love him because you never get to do that because of the illusion of playing a dictator— What that is, you never get to know. It is fun to have control and to have a say in what is happening to the people around you.
