David Silva set to sign for Lazio after leaving Man City

This summer, after leaving Man City, David Silva could sign up for Italian club Lazio.

At the conclusion of their Champions League season, the Spaniard will leave the Manchester club, and will be available on a free transfer.

Lazio has emerged as the favorites to sign the playmaker according to Sky Sport Italia and will give him a three year contract.

The Italian outfit would have to negotiate with rivals AC Milan, who have approached Silva’s agents about a possible contract beforehand.

Father Fernando, of Silva, recently told El Transistor that Series A would be perfect for his son: “I can confirm that he loves the Italian league and would really enjoy playing in Italy. He told me he was allowed to play there until he was 40 years old.

“There are a lot of offers at the moment and he has to decide, but if he signed for Lazio, I ‘d love it … it would be a massive opportunity for him.”

Silva may be linking up with the European Golden Shoe winner Ciro Immobile, whose season has been in thrilling form. The Italian scored 36 goals in 37 league games, beating Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus in the process.

By finishing fourth, Lazio qualified for the Champions League next year, helping to end a 13-year drought in Europe’s elite competition.

Signing Silva could help the club improve next season on that spot, and make a major statement in Europe.

In Spain, Fernando Silva also talked of his son returning to Valencia. He said: “I know it is impossible that he will return to Spain because he always asks me to rule out the possibility of returning to Valencia.”

It looks as though the playmaker is snubbing a move back to Spain as he sets his sights on a move back to Italy. Either way, the 34-year-old has been a pleasure to watch in the Premier League during his tenure and Man City fans will be sorely missed.
