A new virus Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome “SFTS” has reportedly broken out in China.
As the whole world is yet struggling with the outbreak of COVID-19 virus, China has again discovered another deadly transmittable virus.
A disease which could be transmitted from one person to another has been found in East China’s Jiangsu Province, according to the reports.
It has been confirmed that so far this year, no fewer than 37 people have been infected with Severe Fever with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (SFTS). However, medical experts warned against the virus reportedly acquired through ticks, noting it could be contagious to humans.
Confirming the study, Sheng Jifang, a novel bunyavirus expert and director of the infectious disease department at the First Associated Hospital of the Zhejiang University School of Medicine, said that a patient who had been infected with the novel bunyavirus three years ago and later died had infected 16 people who had contact with the dead body of the patient as the patient had bleeding due to serious infection.
