FG Appoints New NECO Registrar

Professor Godswill Obioma has been confirmed as the newly named National Examination Council (NECO) Registrar / Chief Executive Officer, following the dismissal of the former Registrar, Professor Charles Uwakwe.

According to a statement made available by NECO Head Information and Public Relations at Minna on Friday, Mr Azeez Sani, the appointment of Professor Obioma was contained in a letter dated 15 May 2020 with Reference No: FME / PS/396 / C1/1/134 and signed by Education Minister Mallam Adamu Adamu.

The declaration states that the appointment is with effect from May 14, 2020 for an initial term of five years.

Prof. Obioma was the Ebonyi State Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC from Bende Local Government Area of Abia State. He is a professor of Education Calculation and Evaluation.

He was former Executive Secretary of the Council for Educational Research and Development in Nigeria, as well as Director, Monitoring, Research and Statistics, National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB); Director, Monitoring and Evaluation, Universal Basic Education Program; Director, Monitoring and Evaluation, National Primary Education Commission and Head, Science Department.

Prof. Obioma, an erudite scholar, has many academic publications to his credit, and is married to children.

He assumed duties as NECO ‘s new Register at Council headquarters in Minna last Friday.
