France offers ‘assistance’ to Lebanon after explosion in Beirut

On Tuesday two major blasts shook the port of Beirut, killing at least 27 people and injuring thousands.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said Tuesday that, after the powerful explosions that shook Beirut, France stood “alongside Lebanon,” and was ready to help.

“France stands alongside Lebanon and the Lebanese, and will always stand by them. It is ready to provide support in accordance with the needs expressed by the authorities in Lebanon, “he said in a tweet.

French President Emmanuel Macron said French assistance is being sent to Lebanon and services are being offered.

“France stands on the Lebanon side. Always, “Macron had previously said in an Arabic tweet.
