I am glad I forgave Kashamu before he died – Gbenga Daniel

Otunba Gbenga Daniel, ex Ogun State Governor, was happy to have been able to forgive late Buruji Kashamu before he passed.

It must be recalled that Daniel and Kashamu were once at loggerheads over the future of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State.

Kashamu allied with former president Olusegun Obasanjo in 2011 to ‘battle’ Daniel, ensuring that his anointed candidates lost in the primary elections of the party.

Obasanjo backed Chief Tunji Olurin at the time, while Daniel, then Ogun ‘s incumbent governor, decided to replace him as Prince Gboyega Isiaka should.

With the PDP seats eluding them, Isiaka and other Daniel-loyal candidates have defected to the Nigerian People’s Party (PPN).

However, both the PDP and PPN lost the 2011 election to the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

Everything eventually fell apart between the former President Obasanjo and Kashamu.

Reacting to the death of Kashamu, Daniel said he has received the news of Kasamu ‘s death with shock.

“I grabbed a timeless lesson from this tragic incident about how fleeting life can be. I am grateful, after all our years of political differences, disputes and turmoil, that my heart finds by the grace of God a special opportunity to forgive and make up with him before his sudden death, “said Daniel.

He prayed to God the resilience of his family to endure the loss.
