Jay-Z to launch Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment

Rapper and entrepreneur, Jay-Z, is about to launch the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports and Entertainment as the Roc Nation organization has confirmed a new alliance with Long Island University in the birthplace of Jay-Z, Brooklyn.

The school will officially start in 2021 and the students will undergo hands-on learning while merit-based scholarships will be offered, Roc Nation reported.

The financial assistance, branded “Hope Scholarship” by the program, will target ambitious New York high-schoolers.

According to The Associated Press, the school will be located at Brooklyn’s 15,000-student Long Island University, and will offer undergraduate degrees in music , music technology, entrepreneurship and development, and sports management.

“We ‘re delighted that the Roc Nation School of Music, Sports & Entertainment will provide students with a unique perspective, expertise and experience and expose the world to the next generation of unparalleled talent,” said Desiree Perez, CEO of Roc Nation.

The new school would be “a true investment in Brooklyn , New York City and beyond in our culture and young people,” she said.

Jay-Z’s entertainment company Roc Nation was established in 2008 and has signed on artists with great names including Kanye West, Rihanna, J.Cole, Alicia Keys etc.

Roc Nation Sports, a division of Roc Nation Entertainment, was founded in 2013 to represent athletes, and counts among its clientele Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford.
