NECO postpones 2020 exams indefinitely

The on going NECO exams 2020 has been postponed indefinitely

An indefinite suspension of the ongoing Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) has been announced by the Management Board of the National Examinations Council (NECO).

Azeez Sani, Head of the Information and Public Relations Division at NECO, claimed in a statement issued on Sunday 25 October that the decision to suspend the review indefinitely followed the current security problems caused by the ENDSARS protests, which threatened the smooth conduct of the examinations in some parts of the country.

He reported that the reviewing body had told the general public in a public statement dated 21 October 2020 of the rescheduling of some of the 2020 SSCE articles, but had to postpone the study indefinitely due to current security threats in some parts of the country.

He clarified that in some states, the enforced curfew and closure of schools made it difficult for the Council to transport examination materials around the country.

He added that as soon as normalcy returns to the country, the examination body will continue the conduct of the examination in all states.

Although regretting any inconvenience that this postponement may cause our esteemed stakeholders, the Council has nevertheless taken this decision in order to preserve the credibility and protection of its review procedures for the smooth conduct of the Council ‘s review “the statement read in part.
