Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) Essay Competition 2021 for Nigerian Undergraduates

Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) Essay Competition 2021 for Nigerian Undergraduates.

The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) is now taking entries for its 2021 Essay Competition from Nigerian undergraduates. The NESG essay contest has a deadline of October 3, 2021 for submissions.

The Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) is delighted to announce the #NES27 Essay Contest theme: “Securing Our Future: The Fierce Urgency of Now.” The essay competition is available to all Nigerian undergraduates between the ages of 16 and 25 who are enrolled in any higher education institution in Nigeria or overseas.

Nigeria has the capacity to become a continental and global force that influences economics and policies, with a market of over 200 million people, coastal access to assist trade, and enormous human and natural resources. Nigeria’s socioeconomic potential has a lot of promise.

Today’s headlines, however, do not reflect Nigeria’s economic potential. Rather, they focus on insecurity, unemployment, poverty, insurgency, inflation, and general unease. As Nigeria’s security situation worsens, potential foreign investors are looking for alternative nations to invest in, while some present investors are considering exit routes.

Foreign investors aren’t the only ones who use exit strategies. Nigeria has had a significant brain drain to nations such as the United Kingdom, the United States, and Canada, primarily in important industries such as health, technology, and academics. We are at a critical juncture in our country’s history, and what we do or don’t do now will have long-term ramifications for our future. The NESG is seeking applicants for the essay contest in order to appropriately express Nigeria’s priorities for establishing a foundation for ensuring our future.

This is a request for new solutions that clearly highlight the need for a joint response from all stakeholders (government at all levels, corporate sector, and civil society) in order to secure the future of our beloved country.

The significance of the proposed idea or policy should be clearly outlined, politically feasible, and consistent with the NESG’s guiding principles, which include a commitment to socioeconomic inclusion and shared prosperity, a commitment to a free-market economy, encouragement of private sector investment, creation of an enabling environment, governance in the national interest, and a commitment to the rule of law.
