Police arrest two nurses for child trafficking in Katsina

Police have arrested two nurses for allegedly trafficking a new-born baby girl in Katsina.

State Police Command spokesman Gambo Isah said the nurses who were identified as Misira Tijjani and Grace Ejigu were arrested after a tip-off on July 28. They allegedly conspired and sold Sabuwar Kasuwa quarters in the state to one 45-year-old Eucharia Onyema.

Says Isah;

“About 10:00 a.m. on July 25 , 2020, one Shamsiyya Sani, aged 25 from Dandagoro quarters, was born from a baby girl at Okomos Clinic, Kofar Kaura, Katsina.

“She later left the child with a handwritten note at the hospital stating that she was born out of wedlock hence the abandonment.

“With the aid of a Keke Napep rider who accused them of stealing the girl, Nemesis caught up with them when they were arrested on their way from the hospital to their home. An investigation is already ongoing.”
