Public schools in cross river state may resume on June 16

Public Schools In Cross River State Will Resume on June 16

Public Schools In Cross River State Will Resume on June 16

The Cross River State government has ordered that academic programs in the state will reopen on June 16 , 2020. He announced this via the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Mr Christian Ita.

The state of Cross River is perhaps the only Nigerian state to formally confirm a Corona-virus case.

According to press release, it will be a trial resumption, where students and teachers must strictly wear necessary and medically approved Personal Protection Equipment, to ensure a safe academic environment.

The Governor, Benedict Bengioushuye Ayade has targeted mass production of Personal Protection Equipment ( PPE), which must include face shields and PPE overalls, to be supplied freely to schools, to be used by the students and medical team in the state.

He said;

“maybe we need to follow a new lifestyle, which is to get used to the coronavirus as part of our lifestyle.

For Cross River State, we have a concrete plan that our children can not keep to staying at home. The longer they stay at home, the more moral decadence, the more indiscipline they become, the more lazy they feel to get back to school. There is time to be in class for every stage of life and once the children skip this sensitive period, it becomes very challenging.

“I think it’s sensible for the students to go back to school and I’ve seen this happening in China where the kids with their nose masks and shields are back in school.

You wear your nose mask, when you get to school you wear your face shield, you remove the mask and wear your shield just to permit more ventilation and breathing.

“We feel it is time for the federal government to demonstrate love and support for Cross River State as well. We have always led from the front and believe that mass PPE development is an additional value for which all medical professionals, from nurses to radiographers, must be armed with PPE for their function.

“With the free delivery of PPE, we want to help our public schools, because we care. But for schools our PPE is constrained to the nose masks and face shield. But they’ll be given at no cost to health workers in Cross River State because the government has to cover the expense.

We have invested extensively in the design and manufacture of nose masks and face masks, but over time it has become clear that the PPE is much more important and we know that without the PPE our medical professionals, our front-line employees are at risk and thus there is a need for PPE manufacturing.

“Physicians in Nigeria have lately authorized strike alerts and their key reason is that their coworkers are dropping dead in numbers owing to the unavailability of PPE as they have direct contact with patients with suspected cases.

“Cross River State has had to invest heavily in PPE manufacturing. And we went out of our way to get the highest quality of materials and pulled in workers from India who are skilled in large scale production. They work very hard to produce a reasonable number of face shields daily. These face shields will be the first and major series of shields here in Nigeria.

“I believe the federal government will be enthusiastic to motivate the re-establishment of schools because the coronavirus has obviously come to stay with us and the reality is that countries that have tried to re-establish schools have had to come to grips with the increased prevalence of the virus but undoubtedly how lengthy can we anticipate as a country?”
